Today, 4th October 2016, the uniquely voiced rapper M.I, clocks 35.  M.I, who is currently the C.E.O of mega record label, Chocolate city, first appeared in the limelight some ten years ago with his single “Crowd Mentality”…which gained massive airplay and demand within and outside the country. The stunning success of the release was the beginning of a hip hop revolution in Nigeria, with M.I playing the role of a front liner in this revolution. His music brought in new perspectives to local Hip hop, and conveniently placed Nigerian Hip Hop on the International scene. He is a multiple Award winner and has had international acclamation including being nominated for Best International Act for the BET Awards 2010.

M.I is a dynamic rapper, with deep ties to family as is clear in his songs and his ever enduring attitude of making his relationship with “Jesse Jags” and other people he considers family straight. He also has a level of attachment to faith, being that he was raised as a PK (Preachers Kid). He has songs the likes of “Jehova”,”Chairman”, and other collaborations with renowned Gospel artists across Nigeria. Unlike many others, as can be seen from his ties, M.I believes there are other aspects of life worth attention outside of the limelight and just music.

M.I Abaga has three albums to his credit, which all have produced massive hits. He has been consistent in the delivery of chart topping songs and many have called him a legend as far as Nigerian Hip Hop is concerned. M.I might not be the best rapper there is, but he surely has a place among the top. Though M.I is now the new C.E.O of Chocolate city, he still is a rapper and we would still be expecting him to as usual, drop chart topping songs.

Today we say a big Happy Birthday to a man who has influenced the industry and Hip Hop culture in Nigeria in a dramatic way. We celebrate his accomplishments and pray he continually finds purpose and sees purpose in what he is doing. May God bless his new age. Once again, Happy Birthday Mr M.I Abaga.
